The Association of Black Argumentation Professionals

The Association of Black Argumentation Professionals (ABAP) was created to empower Black debaters, coaches, educators, and advocates. We recognize the unique challenges faced by marginalized scholars and we seek to improve their conditions.

Our purpose is to address, educate, coordinate and provide support and aid to challenge and eradicate institutional racism, cultural incompetence and bigotry.

We provide education by

     (1) hosting an annual conference,

     (2) providing cultural competency training seminars,

     (3) offering related resources for emerging Black professionals

Our members raise consciousness about racial discrimination, microaggressions and institutional discrimination. To maximize our impact on current efforts, we collaborate with debate professionals from around the world.
